WHAT TO EXPECT

Get Started
Making the call, Today marks the first day to get started on your path to healing. We understand the difficulties in seeking help in what can be a dark or scary time. But it’s important to realize that you are not alone.
Registration
The resident and/or family member completes an intake that involves the paperwork, Presenting concerns, Psychiatric history, Substance abuse history, Medical history, Social history, Past treatment history, and Insurance Information.
Assessment
An assessment is completed before the resident receives behavioral health services or within 48 hours after the assessment is completed. A Behavioral Health Assessment includes: Presenting issue, Substance abuse history, Co-occurring disorder, Legal history (including custody, guardianship and pending litigation), Criminal justice record, Family history, Behavioral health treatment history, Symptoms reported by the resident and Referrals needed (if any). followed by a Physical Assessment by a nurse or doctor that examines you.
Authorization of Treatment
The resident and/or adult family member reads and signs the authorization for treatment.

A staff member will introduce you to the staff and peers and take you on a facility tour.

Firstly, entering our residential behavioral health program provides a safe and supportive environment where individuals can focus solely on their mental health and well-being. These programs are designed to provide structured and intensive care that may not be available through traditional outpatient therapy. By beginning the admissions process, individuals are taking an important step toward receiving the
comprehensive and personalized care that they need.

Secondly, our residential behavioral health programs provide access to a wide range of evidence-based treatments, including therapy, medication management, and holistic approaches such as music therapy mindfulness meditation, or yoga. These programs are designed to address a variety of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and trauma-related disorders. By starting the admissions process, individuals can begin to explore the different treatment options available and work with mental health professionals to develop a personalized treatment plan that meets their unique needs.

Finally, beginning the admissions process can provide a sense of hope and
empowerment. Mental health concerns can be isolating and overwhelming and taking the step to seek treatment can be a powerful act of self-care. By entering our program, individuals are showing themselves that they are committed to their mental health and well-being and that they are willing to take the necessary steps to improve their quality of life.

THE RIGHT FIT
Criteria for Admission
All admissions to Kuleana Living are made on an individualized basis. Each person’s unique needs, concerns, and treatment goals are thoroughly reviewed, and admissions will be based on those specifiers.Kuleana Living, admission criteria is:
Primarily diagnosis of an (SMI) Serious Mental Illness, the adult member has a risk history of self-harming behaviors or disturbance of mood, thought, or behavior which renders the adult incapable of developmentally appropriate self-care or self-regulation.
Ages 18 or older
Able to perform or require assistance in Activities of Daily Living
Demonstrate a willingness to participate in treatment
A need for 24-hour behavioral health care and supervision to develop adequate and effective coping skills that will allow the member to live safely in the community
We are pleased to provide treatment for the following concerns:
Serious Mental Illness (SMI) who may have substance use disorder
Personal Care Services
PTSD and other forms of trauma
Mood and Anxiety Disorders
Co-occurring disorders
